As u probably will understand (at least i hope u do..) there are certain 'rules' concerning ur behaviour on IRC.
The most common rules are:

- English is by no means the only language, unless the topic telse u differently. If u want to
  speak some language other than English, (for example with ur friends), talk in private.
  u should check the topic when u join a channel to see if there are any  restrictions about
  language. On a non-restricted channel, please speak a language everybody can  
  understand. If u want to do otherwise, change channels and set the topic accordingly.

- Remember, people on IRC form their opinions about u only by ur actions, writings and
  comments, so think before u type.
  If u use offensive words, u'll be frowned upon. Do not "dump" (send large amounts of
  unwanted information) to a channel or another user. This is likely to get u kicked off the
  channel or killed from IRC.

- Dont harass another user.  Harassment is defined as behaviour towards another user
  with the purpose of annoying them.

- Dont annoy a channel with constant beeping. (Therefore most clients cannot beep at all).

- Dont advertise in the channel, unless the channel topic states otherwise.

- Dont repeat urself, stating something once is enuf, ppl in the channel arent deaf.

- Dont send files to ppl unless they agreed to receive those in advance.

- Dont show behaviour that reduces the functionality of IRC as a CHAT medium.

- Obey the channel operators. The channel operators are the people who have @ in front
   of their names.
   Channel operators are the owner(s) of their respective channels. They are in the channel
   to maintain order in the channel and to protect it. You can always address to them when
   u have questions.
